Coaching built around your glucose

Training plans only work if your blood sugar cooperates. All coaching options cover both the running and the management of your sugar levels in training and on race day.

1-2-1 training

A personal plan that fits your life, your goals and how your body responds. Weekly check-ins, adjusted as you progress, and review of your training and blood sugar metrics to propose strategies.

Race preparation

For any distance from 5k to 100 miles. We build your fuelling, pacing and glucose strategy, and rehearse it in training so race day holds no surprises.

Starting to run

New to running with type 1? We start gently and build safely, so you learn how exercise affects your levels while you build fitness and confidence.

The approach

Why no training plans?

Training plans can be included as part of any coaching package through TrainingPeaks. But a plan on its own is not the main focus.

My focus is on the individual support that helps you train and race successfully with type 1 diabetes. That means using your training to test different blood-glucose scenarios, fuelling options and race strategies, learning what works for you rather than relying on a generic training plan formula.

The aim is simple: to get you to the start line race-ready, confident in your training, and with a glucose and fuelling strategy that you have already tested in the real world.

Aiming to be competitive for your age

If you want age-group results at any distance, from 5k to 100 miles, the training and glucose management have to work together. We plan both.

Managing load as an older runner

Experience is an advantage, but recovery takes longer. We balance hard sessions, rest and race calendar so you stay consistent and injury-free for years.

Your coach

I’m 53 and I’ve lived with type 1 diabetes for 38 years. I’ve raced it at every level, from 10k to 100 miles, and I coach the way I train: with a plan to avoid Diabetic problems during races and with practical answers for the moments when glucose gets in the way.
